In ref to your experience, I have also struggled with wanting to give my 3 girls a big house, beautiful name brand clothes, all the coolest gadgets, etc. Our story has been alittle more difficult than some, everytime we started really getting ahead in life some big disaster would occur. Most people tell my husband that he reminds them of Bruce Willis in "Unbreakable". Before I met my husband he was rushed to the ER on an overdose that was slipped into his drink at college as a joke, he died on the table. They were able to get his heart started again, and he walked out of there a grateful man. We married in 1987, had our first daughter 1990, she almost died at birth. Had my 2nd girl in 1991. My husband had a very bad accident in 1994, he hit a log truck head on in a Saab 900. He and his passenger were injured so badly they called the coroner on them. It was a black ice storm, I was right behind them in our car and saw the whole thing. I ran to the car right after they hit and my husband was hanging from the sit belt blood every where, he looked dead. His head swelled to bigger then a basketball, they expected him to have brain damage he walked out with no brain damage at all a few days later. Then in 1997 my husband was diagnosed with a rare form of Leukemia and was given 2 days to live. Four and half months later he walked out of the hospital in remission. Then in 2001 he had a stroke. 2005 we formed a business just to have a crooked partner who took us for alot. I said all that to say this, through all the bad times, in between them all, the girls were just so happy to be all together, they never complained about it not being better than what it was, they would tell us on occasion how thankful they felt to just be a family. We do things together all the time. They love going places together as a family. I am so grateful to have such wonderful kids. They are 18, 16 and 13 now. Beautiful and well grounded.

Bob,

You write so well and from the heart. I hope your children really understand how deeply you love them. Your stories about them make it seem like they do.
